Shortly after dawn, Lol Carman discovered 2 RING OUZELS on BLOWS DOWNS (DUNSTABLE) in the Quarry. Already up, I headed straight there, but after half an hour searching gave it up as a bad job. Lol then found the first of 2 male COMMON REDSTARTS in the Half Moon Lane Paddocks - both still showing when I got there a while later (see pic below)...
After I had checked both IVINGHOE HILLS and TRING RESERVOIRS, I arranged to meet Jim Gurney at PEGSDON HILLS NR, where after a lot of hiking about, we eventually connected with at least 9 RING OUZELS in both the 'Terraces' and 'Chack Valley' areas. At least 5 FIELDFARE were also seen, as well as a male COMMON REDSTART at the top of Chack Valley and 3 NORTHERN WHEATEARS, including a cracking male GREENLANDER....
A further 5 RING OUZELS were located on the north side of the Hitchin road at KNOCKING HOE NR.....
