TUESDAY 10 FEBRUARY
Finally caught up with the drake GREATER
SCAUP today - the bird showing well at the northern section of KEMPSTON HARDWICK
SOUTH (see images below); also 30 Mute Swans, 40 Greylag Geese, 96 Wigeon, 146
Tufted Duck, 39 Pochard, 72 Coot, 2 Little Grebe, 6 Great Crested Grebe and a
Reed Bunting noted.
At SANDY SMITH NR, the LITTLE OWL was in its
usual Oak, while at GYPSY LANE GP, 2 COMMON SHELDUCK were back on territory. No
sign of the male Merlin though in an exhaustive search, but 66 Golden Plover
over were noteworthy, with another 50 & 45 Lapwing on GLE PIT; otherwise
just a scattering of usual wildfowl.
Several Skylark were in full song over
cereal crops west of PEACOCK'S LAKE (BROOM), with 400+ Lapwing in fields on the
Old Warden side of the road
